COVID – 19 Clinic Reopening: Dr. Jiwani, Naturopathic Physician June 9, 2020

Naturopathic Nuggets about the COVID Clinic Reopening

  • SOFT Clinic Reopening of Surrey Clinic Tuesday June 9th, 2020. Vancouver is now open for patients by appointment only. Walk-ins are not permitted

  • Revised naturopathic practice designed with safety first & foremost encompassing new regulations from the Provincial Health Minister, BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), WorkSafe and the College of Naturopathic Physicians to protect our patients, staff and the community at large.
  • We are working hard to facilitate timely patient access to healthcare on a triage basis, determined by Dr. Jiwani. Per COVID regulations, we will be following a hybrid model of in-person visits and tele-health.

  • We are open and booking appointments. Please note we are booking 4-6 weeks ahead in part due to extensive COVID protocols. Your patience is appreciated.
  • Email info@getnaturopathic.com for an appointment with your contact number and reason for visit.

  • Telemedicine must continue for follow-up visits only.

  • We are doing our best to schedule patients in quickly. Staggered appointments and increased sanitization protocols will limit our booking availability.

  • If you previously contacted us OR your appointment was cancelled due to COVID restrictions, you are already on our wait-list and we will call you shortly. We ask patients to refrain from repeat calling.

  • A mandatory COVID Pre-Screening Questionnaire will need to be returned by email prior to your visit. Upon arrival, temperature checks will occur. Patients with temperatures over 38 degrees Celsius or any symptoms of the common cold, influenza, COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, fatigue or flu-like symptoms) or any other infectious respiratory disease need to stay home. Call us to reschedule your appointment.

  • Physical distancing, plexiglass barriers, hand hygiene and increased sanitization protocols are in effect, as well as the requirement to wear a mask & gloves.

  • Patients must attend their appointment alone, unless an interpreter or caregiver is required. No children are permitted in the clinic unless they are a new patient.

  • The clinic washroom is closed, and only available for emergencies.

  • Curb Side Pickups and Email Orders are NOT available at this time.
  • Refills with FREE shipping can be purchased through the website PhysiciansResearch.ca shipped via Canada Post.

Coronavirus COVID -19 Clinic Closures: Dr. Jiwani, Naturopathic Physician

Dear Patients,

We have missed you all dearly and hope that you and your families are safe and well.

Please read this in its entirety as this content will answer the many questions we are receiving.

We are excited to inform you of a SOFT Clinic Reopening of the SURREY Clinic on Tuesday June 9th, 2020. Currently, if needed, we will be booking Vancouver patients for the Surrey Clinic as needed. We aim to open the VANCOUVER Clinic in the very near future. For the time being, clinic hours will be fluid and subject to change. For the most up-to-date hours, check our Google Profile under Dr. Jiwani. Please note that only scheduled patients are permitted to enter the clinic due to physical distancing.

As you know, the government has released a plan for BC to restart some services. We have been working hard to design our revised practice to comply with the new regulations from the Provincial Health Minister, BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), WorkSafe and the College of Naturopathic Physicians to protect our patients, staff and the community at large.

New COVID Policies for Your Safety

Once the clinic opens, new policies will be in place. You will receive details via email upon booking your appointment with everything you need to know, although the complete summary is also given below. These policies are subject to change as we receive further Public Health Guidelines.

COVID: Booking Appointments

We ask for your patience and understanding as we endeavour to accommodate the many patients that need to be cared for. If you would like to book an appointment, please EMAIL us with the type of appointment you require and your best contact number. If you previously contacted us OR your appointment was cancelled due to COVID restrictions, you are already on our wait-list and we will call you shortly. We ask patients to refrain from repeat calling as this slows down the scheduling process. We are working hard to facilitate timely patient access to healthcare on a triage basis, determined by Dr. Jiwani. Per COVID regulations, we will be following a hybrid model of in-person visits and tele-health. Telemedicine must be used for patients requiring follow-up visits only.

Please understand that we are doing our best to schedule patients in quickly. We are limited by staggered appointments to ensure physical distancing, and the greater demands on staff due to increased sanitization protocols. We request your kindness and compassion in this regard. Physical distancing is in effect so appointment times will not be flexible for this soft reopening. Missed, cancelled or rescheduled appointments will move to the bottom of the wait-list due to the backlog of urgent care.

Our new scheduling program allows for appointment reminders and booking confirmations. Please advise us by email of any updated contact information. When booking your appointment, let us know if you wish a TEXT or EMAIL reminder. Please note text charges may apply depending on your phone provider.

COVID Pre-Visit Screening

Prior to your appointment, a mandatory COVID Pre-Screening Questionnaire will be emailed that you are required to complete. If you answer YES to any of these questions, you will not be allowed in the clinic and your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

If you have any symptoms of the common cold, influenza, COVID -19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, fatigue or flu-like symptoms) or any other infectious respiratory disease, please stay home. Call us 604.679.9988 to reschedule your appointment.

Your temperature will be taken in the clinic, and patients with a temperature over 38 degrees Celsius will need to leave immediately and call to reschedule.

COVID Physical Distancing

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment but not too early as the waiting room will not be available.
  • Please call us from your vehicle to check in and we will instruct you when to come to the front door.
  • Please stop at the clinic door, even if it is open for ventilation. Do not enter until you are directed to do so.
  • Please leave all of your personal belongings (purses, backpacks, jackets, umbrellas) at home or in your vehicle.  Bring only your method of payment into the clinic.
  • Please arrive wearing a mask and gloves, as many of our patients are high risk and vulnerable to infection. If you do not have these, these will be provided to you. Remember bringing your own mask will save one for frontline healthcare workers, due to shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Please sanitize your hands on entering the clinic, after wearing your gloves, using the washroom, using a tissue for your face, coughing or sneezing. Hand sanitizing stations will be available at reception.
  • Always maintain 2 meters apart from others in the clinic; refrain from engaging other patients, and remain in your designated room.
  • Please arrive alone for your appointment unless you require an interpreter. Only couples that have adjacent appointments may come in together. No children are permitted in the clinic unless they are a new patient. Only one parent will be permitted to attend the appointment.
  • Plexiglass shields have been installed at the front desk and in Dr. Jiwani’s office.

COVID Sanitization

  • We will be operating under a strict cleaning & sanitization schedule of the entire clinic.
  • You are required to sanitize your gloved hands upon entering the clinic.
  • Use the bathroom at home prior to your visit. The clinic washroom is closed, and only available for emergencies.

COVID Product Refills

  • Curb Side Pickups and Email Orders are NOT available at this time.
  • Product Refills are to be done solely through PhysiciansResearch.ca due to limited staff resources and in our efforts to comply with physical distancing protocols.
  • Physicians Research offers FREE SHIPPING through Canada Post with a minimum order. It typically takes 2 – 3 business days.
  • Patients with scheduled appointments may purchase their product refills at that time.

We thank you for your continued support, kindness, compassion and patience as we all adapt to life during COVID -19. Our new safety protocol is designed to safeguard the health of patients and staff while maintaining our high standard of delivering comprehensive naturopathic medical care.

We look forward to seeing you very soon!

Dr. Jiwani & Staff
